This is a very solid breakfast place. I would give it 3 1/2 stars if I could. One reviewer said the place is grimy. We did not have that experience at all. This is just a plain and simple breakfast place. Egg, bacon, toast, hash browns as good as anywhere diner. Very clean, good service and a decent price. This will be a regular stop for us when we are staying up north.

Great place for breakfast! You should see the baskets and gravy. Didn't get them but wish I did! Friend said they were "wow!"

"Meh. I've experienced better" describes this place to a T. Our group of three sat down for breakfast and after a few moments, the server came by and took our drink order and gave us menus. The coffee was hot and delicious by my standards* and the small juice looks to be about 8 oz.. Server was pleasant and quick considering she was the only one working the front. (* I like my coffee weak) We ordered and waited. And waited. To be fair, while there was only one server on duty, I believe the issue was the kitchen since our drinks came out quickly. So, we finally get our food (it was about a 20 minute wait) and it was...okay. Nothing I could really point out and say "oooh, that was awful" but on the other hand, nothing stood out as outstanding either. I left most of mine though my companions ate most of theirs. Thinking about this place though, what is really off-putting is the griminess. This place does not look clean. Sorry, but a thorough cleaning and some paint would probably add an extra star but as it stands now, it's just kind of gross. Like people have smoked in there for 40 years gross. Next time I'm Up North, I'll go to Betty's in Boyne Falls or FlapJack in Charlevoix instead. *** They only accept cash or a check ***

Stopped here for lunch, and should have ordered breakfast. My "garden salad" came topped with bacon and cheese. Bacon and cheese seemed to be a theme, as my turkey wrap was also loaded with more bacon and melted cheese. Definitely not a place for a light lunch. On the upside, it's a great old diner. The service was fast and friendly and prices were reasonable. It's right across from the park on Lake Charlevoix, and there's a nice view if you have a window seat.

After coming to Boyne City for over 20 years, I have finally found the place where I am treated differently because I am not a local! I came in using a cane and moving slow with husband and granddaughter in tow. Waitress was terse at best. When I asked if there was mayo on the BLT, I was told they don't have ANY mayo, just salad dressing. I was confused and wondered if they put some form of salad dressing on the BLTs. She got angry with me and asked, "Do you just want me to leave it off?" as I was still trying to figure it out. Then it came to me, Miracle Whip is called "salad dressing!" I guess if I was local, I would figure it out! I asked for "light Miracle Whip." Of course the mediocre sandwich came with none. The ticket specifically said "No Mayo!" which I thought they didn't have! The cook is not to blame here, it was the vindictive waitress! I don't know what bee got up her bonnet today, but I just had total double knee replacement, and all I wanted was a peaceful sandwich! And hey lady, I may not look like a local, but I just bought a house and 17 acres here, and myself and my family will avoid this dive!

Exactly the type of townie diner you'd expect in a small town. Try the oatmeal if you're feeling adventurous, the eggs and toast if you aren't. Food is hot, tasty and very reasonable. Local color makes it worth the trip.

Had breakfast here today for the first time. Overall, food was decent but sausage they served was brown and serve from a box - gross. Kids meals didn't include the drink and a kids cup of milk was $1.50 which seems steep for a small cup. Waitstaff was nice and attentive.

Good food and plenty of it. I had two huge pancakes with eggs. My wife had the largest serving of biscuits and gravy we ever saw. The quality of the food was great. The service was brisk, efficient and friendly. Not just a tourist haunt; locals eat there too. Great place for breakfast or brunch.

My main reason for the 2 stars is the service- My buddies came in during a busy time and the staff made no effort to find us a place to sit and never bothered to even great us. We had to do some work to find our own spots which included splitting up our party and some of us sitting with a random diner eating by himself. The waitress was, at best, aloof with us and flashed glimpses of rudeness. One of my friends didn't respond to her quickly enough (in her eyes) so she waved her hand in front of his face as he read the menu. My friend wanted his eggs fried and she didn't seem to know what that meant. She then breathed really heavily and went through the options of how his egg could be cooked. I'm not a big breakfast fan so I ordered a chicken sandwhich and she made me feel as though it was unheard of to order a sandwhich at breakfast. I wasn't allowed to order off the lunch menu so I had to settle on something else. She also made a sarcastic comment about my friend's parfait selection. I was more shocked by her behavior than annoyed- It was somewhat amusing actually. When our food came (after a 30 minute wait) she asked us if we wanted "ketchup OR hot sauce" as if we could only pick one. When my friend responded with a water request at this point she came back with, "Do you want kethup or hot sauce?" She said it really slowly and sarcastically as if my friend was stupid. She didn't check on us once during a breakfast and when we did flag her down she seemed bothered by our simple requests. The breakfast wrap I ordered was pretty good but for 8 bucks I feel I should have got some sort of side item. My buddy's biscuits and gravy were horrible and the rest of the food was rated as average by my pals. It is a "small town family diner" so I expected some hospitality with hearty food at a reasonable price- My expectations were not met. Robert's Diner will not receive my patronage again.

Popped in unplanned and was pleasantly surprised. Doesn't look like much from the outside but the good was great. Very tasty and fresh - super buttermilk pancakes. Service was prompt and friendly

The "everything omelet" is the best restaurant omelet I've ever had. Lots of everything and not too much egg. Perfect!

Nothing special here for breakfast. I would look for somewhere else next time.
